Transformer overcapacity affects industry development

Although the transformer industry has great potential for energy conservation, the current serious overcapacity has affected the development of the industry. At present, the total number of domestic transformer manufacturers exceeds 1,000, but there are only about 10 enterprises with production capacity exceeding 1 million kVA, and 70% have annual production value of less than 50 million yuan. According to reports, small and medium-sized enterprises accounted for 31.8% of the total turnover; large-scale enterprises accounted for 68.2% of the total turnover; among them, 10 leading enterprises with an annual turnover of more than 1.5 billion yuan accounted for 33.1% of the total turnover.

Industry expert Han Sigen believes that due to the current scattered distribution of energy-saving distribution transformers, the quality supervision of some products in operation is not enough, resulting in some companies with poor quality and small production capacity indiscriminately committing, arbitrarily quoting, and then producing through the cutting-edge method. The quality is uneven, disrupting the normal market order and bidding order.

He believes that it is imperative to step up the quality inspection of energy-saving distribution transformers after their delivery and operation. At the same time, it is necessary to conduct on-site inspections of energy-saving distribution transformer manufacturers, conduct comprehensive assessments on corporate capital, site, equipment, design capabilities, process assurance, and inspection capabilities, and timely eliminate those enterprises with poor quality and low productivity. Accelerate the reduction and reorganization of the energy-saving distribution transformer manufacturing industry, and reduce the current overcapacity rate from 38% to 15% to 20% within a certain period of time.

He also suggested that enterprises should be prepared to fight a protracted war, enterprises should improve their internal strengths, carry out processing and manufacturing of specialty products, provide users with quality services and practical use of solutions, and from the original single product supplier to the user's comprehensive service provider. The transformation will increase the added value of products and corporate profits, and realize the sustainable development of the company.
