Spreadtrum Communications Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Exhibition") released its new AVS audio and video decoding core chip - Spreadtrum SV6100 chip. AVS is a digital audio and video codec technology standard with independent intellectual property rights in China. The launch of the SV6100 chip is aimed at China's emerging IPTV, digital TV, satellite TV and other audio and video industries. This is another major breakthrough in the field of AVS audio and video chips after Spreadtrum released the world's first commercial AVS audio and video decoder chip SV6111 in August 2007. The SV6111 is an AVS/MPEG-2 set-top box decoding system-on-a-chip that targets the high-end set-top box market that supports HD and PVR functions.

Spreadtrum SV6100 is an advanced AVS-based and MPEG-2 standard set-top box decoding core chip that supports AVS standard and MPEG-2 standard SD (SD) video decoding, while supporting a variety of popular audio standards (such as MPEG- Audio decoding of 1 Layer I&II, AAC, AVS, etc.). The SV6100's distinguishing feature consists of hardware modules such as high-performance transmission processors, video decoders, audio decoders, and a display controller with zoom function. It integrates important software and more hardware processing by adopting internationally advanced design techniques. Features, which reduce costs and reduce power consumption, while the product can be flexibly matched with a variety of mature standard solutions, which can effectively reduce time to market. The SV6100 has the mainstream features required for current and future digital TV set-top boxes, and can be used in Internet TV, cable digital TV, satellite digital TV and terrestrial digital TV. Compared with the SV6111, the SV6100 is a decoding core chip for the SD set-top box market, which has great advantages in terms of low power consumption, low cost, flexibility and fast time to market.

At present, the actual test performance of the SV6100 chip is good, and the product performance is stable. The chip sample has begun shipping, and it is expected that commercial products using the SV6100 chip will be available later this year.
