SEMI: Shipments of semiconductor wafers fell by 1% in the first quarter

SEMI's Silicon Materials Manufacturing Group (SMG, members include Wacker-Siltronics, SUMCO, Shin-Etsu, MEMC, etc.) announced statistics recently.

In the first quarter, global semiconductor wafer shipments fell slightly by 1% compared with the fourth quarter of last year, and rose by 3% from the first quarter of last year. Volker Braetsch, SMG’s current chairman and vice president of Siltronics, believes this slight decline is a performance of the quarterly adjustment.
