Aircraft or car? Decrypt millions of euros in flying cars

According to the British "Daily Mail" reported on April 20, at the recent Monaco Motor Show, the Slovak company AeroMobil launched a flying car, and will accept the first batch of orders this year, priced from 1.2 million to 1.5 million euros (8.84 million to 1100 Million RMB). At the same time, the Dutch company Pal-V also launched the Liberty Flying Vehicle, which is priced at between US$320.35 million and US$2.27 million.

The AeroMobil flying car travels about 100 kilometers and has a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The maximum cruise distance when flying is 750 kilometers and it takes only three minutes to become an airplane. Its wings can be folded like insect wings, propelled by a hybrid engine and a pusher, and its Rotax 912 ULS engine uses regular fuel. In addition to high prices, you also need to have a flight license to fly.

Aeromobil revealed that the flagship model has undergone several hundred improvements, in line with existing manufacturing requirements for automobiles and aircraft. By combining aviation and automotive capabilities, it perfectly predicts the arrival of a new era of efficient, environmentally-friendly and exciting travel, providing users with unparalleled transportation options.

At the same time, the Dutch company Pal-V also developed a cross-border model called Pal-V Liberty, which is said to be more concise and cheaper than AeroMobile. The model is 13 feet (4 meters) long and is actually a gyroplane with three wheels and a telescopic rotor. It can carry two passengers and travel 248 to 310 miles (400-500 km) at 99 mph (160 km/h).

After successful tests in 2009 and 2012, PAL-V plans to display a series of designs at the Monaco Motor Show and plans to introduce road and air certification models by the end of 2018.

Philip Mawby, professor of electronic engineering at Warwick University, believes that a flying car is a very niche product, but will soon receive more attention from companies. The problem is to bring it to market and become a useful product at an acceptable price.

At the same time, controlling air traffic has become one of the major problems. So vehicles like AeroMobil are currently only suitable for people with large areas of land and are unlikely to become mass products. (Internship Compilation: Ju Suhui's reviewer: Li Zongze)
